re: Shinguuji's swimsuit design. Unfortunately, I don't think I can find out much more about the meaning of the blue roses without having played Danganronpa S, which I still have no intention of doing. For all I know, it could tie into whatever narration there is, or there could be some link between what colours were used for which characters.
(It just crossed my mind that the designs may have been colour-coordinated for each game, like the 10th Anniversary sprite edits were, but it doesn't appear to be the case at all. On the list of things that Could Have Been Cool.)
The main and possibly only reference we have that I'm aware of is the common meaning of both blue flowers and blue roses, also depicted in Japan, of "achievement of the impossible". It could be a conscious choice to make Shinguuji wear an artificial flower. Something to do with humanity's achievements? Or with effectively bringing his sister back from the dead? Those would be the most obvious readings.
What I find the most striking about it is the complete shift in palette from his official illustration and main design. Roses are present in his main illustration, but specifically red. Not only do we have a good ole case of warm colour VS cold colour - and the perceived opposition between red and blue - I strongly remember a certain friend in highschool being mocked by a teacher for saying blue is opposite to orange and not to red, despite having been completely correct, but I digress - but I would also take into consideration how much more common red roses are, both in general and in design. This is why I find the choice of blue roses to be striking (looks at myself in the mirror, feeling empty. none of this matters. (continues anyway)); as the character designer in the midst of drawing a cool roses design for a character who has already been associated to red roses, it would be easy to default to red on your first draft.
Either way, looking at his official illustration next to his swimsuit sprites, I find the change in palette very striking.
As I've noted before, the khaki green from his regular design is also completely absent from his swimsuit design. That is, however, not unusual when compared to other characters: from the top of my head, Akamatsu's swimsuit is light blue, which is absent from her usual design, Saihara's swimsuit sports colour, which is extremely unusual... Iruma's swimsuit design also departed from her original palette, you get the idea. Just that his palette was changed is not that noteworthy, and it's very likely that there's nothing to it. I just find that the choice of a sleeve with such a pattern showcases a lot more detail than was put in other swimsuit designs, which piqued my interest, and makes me wonder if it happened to be deliberate... or someone just thought it'd be pretty.
I think it was in my previous post about this that I mentioned having just then decided on a headcanon that the cooler blue/purple palette represents Korekiyo while the khaki and red palette represents his sister. This is something I have no "proof" of, aside from blue+purple being used in two designs for Korekiyo, but an idea I like. I wish it were (more of?) a thing.
One element I'm missing is whether Korekiyo's sister appears at all in Danganronpa S. Just looking at his sprites for the game gives me the impression that she doesn't (if not for removing the mask, she is usually represented by make-up and... tiddies) but those are the same sprites that show him grabbing a non-existent cap, so I don't know that they're a good reference for anything.
Due to my negative impression of DRS, it's probably not even worth putting too much thought into, in respect to my headcanon mostly. I still fully appreciate this design choice, which like I said, stands out for being so detailed. It's pretty and I appreciate the prettiness of my pretty boy faves being respected.

alex you really had to go and do this again, didn't you? (which is wonderful because i cut a few gifs from this set and now i get to share them!)
well damn i wasn't planning on another ao3-style comment but nooooo, you had to go make another beautiful gifset (lmao i love both you and your gifset so much!!) literally saved this until i can fully appreciate it, i feel like a little kid wanting to open a present slowly to keep the suspense longer, like i'm trying not to look at the gifs first (impossible) because i want to give you my FRESH response. i adore colour palettes (to no one's surprise)!! so excited for the ep2 gifs!!
obsessed with the fact that you waited to look at these!
gif 1: NIKO MY BELOVEDDDD. i love love love the green-pink contrast, i feel like that is just very niko!! we see her in other colours, sure, but in my mind they're her main two. obviously the pink is the sprites (and the lesbianism of course lmao) but the colour palette just really draws attention to it which is soooo pretty. and the yellow and greens!! the way her school clothes actually look green makes the whole thing SO cohesive and satisfying. also also the different shades of pink, like if i didn't look closely i would've thought it was one shade of pink except the colour palette made me look! *heart eyes motherfucker*
the main connecting colors that make this episode cohesive were pink and yellow, with a hint of green. and it's so perfect for niko! because you're so right, niko and pink is just... meant to be :) the whole flashback/memory sequence has those pink/red floating shapes and my brain definitely edited them out the first couple times i saw the episode, so i can totally relate. only really noticed the pink when i made my first gifset of the scene (all the way back in may, holy shit i've been at this for a while)
gif 2: ohhhhhhh my god turquoise+gold my beloved!!!!! sooooo in love with this palette it's not even funny. everything is so turquoise and kinda monotone with the funky lighting, and then you just have a few gold lights to give the whole thing life ough. (also a fun callback to the ep1 cat leash, aka the conflict they're headed towards??)
love the connection to the cat leash, definitely didn't think about it but now it's all i'm thinking about!
gif 3: HI LESBIAN NIKO HI! i love how the animations reflect in her eyes omg, i wonder how they did that? the purple that's the reflection of the light on her hair :o i never noticed it!!! and the other non-pink colours, the sort of pastel-y light green and yellow is so perfect for this scene WOW, actually all of the animations seem to be all pastel-y! and the green coming from the background (window?) is SO COOL
funny you mention lesbian. because. um. i title all these gifs "palette-[keyword].gif" and the keyword for this gif?
oooh so i also never noticed how the animations reflected in her eyes but now looking at it (and this is kind of a technical answer) it looks like the reflections in both eyes are the exact same and they don't reflect on her sclera, just her irises and pupils. i suspect that they just added the reflections as an overlay, and then masked around her irises, and it's not too hard to have those masks shift with her slight movement using keyframes for that short scene. so... probably added in post.
also the green!! i eyedropped that from the animations actually, i totally missed that it also matches the background window!
gif 4: hhhhhhhh SUCH a fun base shot but not one that i think is usually giffed? at least i haven't seen it around. it's really lovely to get those scenes like little treasures! and the greens!!! god i love a good green and these are the BEST. the monotone? *chef's kiss* (also i think i said something about it in the ep1 reaction and i know there's an aesthetic reason for it BUT it really does make the boys feel more ghostly since the only colour on them that's represented is the greenness of the forest reflecting on them. it looks amazing, basically)
funny that you mention this one as not usually giffed. because i have made soooooo many gifs of this exact shot, it's one of my ultimate favorites in the whole show actually, but i almost never publish them. i think this is the only gifset i've published with this scene. and the only other time i've used it was for the cover of the cinematography post:
little secret: it's not actually a monotone scene at all, i totally fudged it for this set. the ground is all yellows and reds, and there's a ton of blue and magenta lighting around it too. i didn't like the blues and magentas in this shot anyways, so i adjusted them to be more green and desaturated, and then ended up changing the rest to be more monotone.
gif 5: oooooh neutrals + gold? did not expect it, but i LOVE. also very fitting for the bathroom as this sort of very mundane place. nothing supernatural's going on in here, no sirree. also also very fun camera angle! something something about the light itself being white, but the light it casts being this warm gold? also the reflection of the light in the water, never noticed that!! i know the water is for crystal to splash her face with, but it just gives off scrying vibes and i am such a big fan. they should let the gang explore more supernatural methods in s2! but i digress. (oh and crystal being much more present, the dark colour picking up in her hair as well as the tiles, and the beige and white in her rings, just like the taps! crystal is so alive)
i barely noticed this shot before making this set actually! ended up being my favorite gif in this set though. something about those neutrals and the pop of yellow and the texture of the tiles. it's all so very satisfying :) love the thought of scrying vibes!
gif 6: another green with some red this time!! lmao it's like an optical illusion, my brain refused to see the reds until i actually stopped and looked for it. so nice and autumn-y <3 again the accent colour being the most prominent example of that colour is SUCH a vibe. also. they are so teeny-tiny omg who let them out to solve cases T-T
yep this one definitely is way easier to see the colors if you zoom really far out. i can see the red better in the little icons on my desktop than i can in the full size gif. had a few iterations for this one, including a version with a more muted color palette and another with the same palette but a slightly different yellow.
this was anther shot i didn't ever really pay attention to until making this set, but it's sooo cool. definitely love the autumn vibes and the scale!! yes!!! they look so small!!
gif 7: PIIIIIIIIIIIINK (god i love a good monotone) plus the (weird) perception we have of pink as this innocent colour vs this horror that niko's going through?? the good sauce man! also i love how the pink shifts until the middle colour basically fades against the background, that's really fun
oh yeah this one is really interesting because of that color shift. i initially made the palette eyedropping from one of the first frames but when i played the whole gif, they looked out of place by the final frames. ended up pulling colors from vastly different frames across the gif to get more balance.
gif 8: sprites sprites sprites! lmao i love them, they're terrible but at least they're funny about it <3 the colours?? obviously the greens, the gold in the coins and litty's dress, the white in their hats and clothing (and litty's highlights, damn girl), but that blue?? iconic. i probably wouldn't have seen it if not for the colour palette omgggg
i was actually thinking of you when i made this one and picked that blue. reminded me a bunch of the palette gif on the tube from episode one and the blue in the lights. i was having a hard time picking out a fifth color for this and was deciding between a few but ultimately picked the blue (probably subconciously for you).
overall: i didn't expect you to be able to surpass the ep1 colour palettes but i should never have doubted, oh my godddd olly!!!! just. WOW. loved all the nikos! loved the bright colours! loved the monotones! loved the greens! loved the pinks! loved the golds! (honestly it might be faster to mention everything i don't love, which is..... nothing) THANK YOU FOR GIFTING US MERELY MORTALS WITH YOUR DIVINE GIFSETS <3
to be totally honest, i wasn't sure if this series would work for the rest of the episodes. episode one has such a cohesive look in a way the others don't, and does way more things with lighting and colors than the rest. so i was anticipating the rest of the episodes to be more of a challenge. it ended up being a bit more difficult to find shots, but not nearly as hard as i expected! loveee that you picked up on the green/pink/gold colors here, which make so much sense thematically (niko=pink, green/gold=dandelions)
i ended up cutting four gifs for this set. the first two since they didn't totally fit the green/yellow/pink colors that i think make this set work
and with these next two, the first was cut because i already had 3 forest scenes. the second because i didn't love how the colors cover up esther's face
thanks a bunch for doing this alex!!! i adore hearing your thoughts on these and the little bits of meta you drop are such brainworms. going to be thinking about the connotations of pink as well as crystal and water scrying for a while <3

Characters: Chiba Ryuunosuke, Yamazaki Jenny, Nakamura Rio, and Maehara Hiroto
Word Count: 2.3k words
Author's Note: I've just been wanting to write anything about these particular four lol
"What are you two doing here?"
Nakamura and Maehara purposely avoided Miki's intense stare as she interrogated them.
"I was just getting something to eat but then I saw you two across the street..." Nakamura answered innocently before finally letting herself meet Miki's gaze. "So I just thought of saying hi... didn't expect to bump with this guy though," she pointed a thumb towards Maehara.
Verbally unresponsive, Miki blankly stared back for a few seconds, seemingly taking in Nakamura's answer, before moving her gaze towards Maehara's instead and raised an eyebrow, prompting him to speak up.
Maehara immediately looked sideways, avoiding her gaze once again. "Well, you told me last week that I should cancel my date with Remi-chan and that's what I did so now I have nothing to do-"
"Bullshit," Miki cut him off, clearly not amused. "That was last month, you bastard."
Nakamura lightly scoffed at that.
"I uhh..." Maehara trailed off, his gaze darting everywhere until they landed into Miki's hair. "Your hair!" He cracked a tight grin, obviously trying to change the topic. "It looks cute today!"
"I know," Miki answered dryly. Her hair is currently tied into loose twin dutch braids. "I see myself in the mirror everyday."
"Nevermind that, there's something I wanted to ask you," Nakamura butted in, "who's that guy? He looks familiar." She gestured towards the person standing next to Miki, who had worn his bucket hat down to his face, making it almost impossible to make out his appearance.
The said person let out a deep, seemingly annoyed, sigh at the question. "You can't even recognize me and yet you decided to follow us for almost thirty minutes straight?" He breathed out.
Nakamura immediately recognized that voice. "Chiba-kun?!" She exclaimed.
"Wait, Chiba?" Maehara took a step closer towards the guy to get a closer look at him.
Chiba clicked his tongue in irritation, pulling down his bucket even further while turning his head away. "Yeah, it's me."
Maehara stood almost awkwardly by the aisle as he watched the other three go over some make up products and try them out.
...or rather it was Miki trying out the products onto Chiba while Nakamura was going through the shelves.
After their mini confrontation by the street, Miki soon had told them that she was out with Chiba to shop for make up products to use for his future stages.
"The red palette was getting kinda boring lately so I thought of experimenting with colours on him and see what fits him the best," she explained to them earlier.
Maehara admitted that, aside from what he saw or heard from his older sisters, he doesn't know that much about make up since he was more of a skincare kind of guy.
Almost 30 minutes have passed ever since Miki and Chiba settled themselves at the testing corner of the aisle, and Maehara felt like he should entertain himself with the skincare section of the store instead of awkwardly waiting for them to finish.
As he was about to excuse himself, he saw Nakamura suddenly approaching him.
"Hey, so I just saw this tint right here," Nakamura held up a product in warm pink colour in a shape of some plastic tube Maehara can't make out of, "and I thought it would look good with your skin tone."
Maehara blinked in confusion. "But I don't really wear make up though-"
"Relax~ The colour's not that pigmented and it won't even feel like you have something on your lips at all!" Nakamura breezily reassured while opening the tube's lid.
Maehara quickly stiffened when Nakamura suddenly grabbed his chin. "Now stay still," she ordered.
"Hey this is kinda..."
"Don't get any weird thoughts here, Maehara-kun~" Nakamura quickly cut him off without missing a beat.
Meanwhile, Miki slowly leaned backwards to examine her work so far. "Oooh the warm purple is kinda sexy with the faint gold!"
"Oh! That does look nice on him, miss!" A nearby clerk praised when she took a closer look.
"Right?!" Miki grinned before turning back to Chiba. "You holding up there?"
"This is nothing," he shrugged. "Though I have to be honest, I'm slowly starting to get embarrassed with all these people around..."
Miki smiled reassuringly at him in response, gently brushing away loose strands of hair from his face. "Well, at least people here hardly recognize you. So perhaps that helps a little, right?"
"Yeah, it does..." Chiba softly replied, his gaze following Miki's fingers as she went through the lip products she has scavenged so far. "What happened last week at class was borderline torture."
Miki stiffened at his remark, clearly remembering the exhaustingly chaotic events that had occurred in less than an hour that day. "Aha..."
Chiba just rolled his eyes at her lack of response. "Say, can you hand me a smaller mirror? I want to take a closer look on what you've worked on so far while you keep looking for uhh... whatever you're looking for, I guess."
"Here," Miki handed him her own compact mirror, before returning her focus to finding the right colour for him. "Ohh this is nice!" She barely heard him say.
"Umm miss?" Miki approached the clerk who had praised her earlier. "If you don't mind, I was wondering if you could help me with selecting the right lip colour that would go well with his eyeshadow?"
She then laughed sheepishly afterwards. "I'm not too well-versed with things like colour theory, you see..."
"No worries, I would love to help!" The clerk smiled brightly at her in return. "Just let me take a closer look again so I can help you find the right fit!"
"Oh that kinda looks sexy, don't you think?" Maehara commented as he and Nakamura watched Miki do her work.
"That's what I thought..." Miki almost whispered, carefully applying the chosen colour onto Chiba's lips.
"Must be nice," Nakamura suddenly blurted out after quietly watching for a while.
"Which is...?"
"Working on those kinds of lips," she answered.
Miki hummed in agreement, now blending out the pigment with a small brush. "I find it easier to apply technique if your workspace is wide enough."
"No wonder I struggled with this guy..." Nakamura let out a disappointed sigh, barely gesturing towards Maehara. "There's barely any space to work on with how small his lips actually are."
Miki nearly choked at the revelation. "Wait, they are?" Failing to suppress an amused grin, she turned to look at a now annoyed Maehara to see it for herself.
"Oh, the colour's nice. Good choice," she first complemented, taking note of how well the faint coral tint goes with Maehara's warm skin tone and brown hair. "You did a great job applying it, Rio. It doesn't even look like he's wearing anything on his lips."
"Ahee~" Nakamura grinned widely at the. compliment.
Miki cracked a smile. "But yeah, somehow it made it obvious how small his lips actually are," chuckling, she turned back to Chiba and continued her work. "Even I just noticed it."
"I don't know how I am supposed to feel right now..."
Nakamura nudged Maehara with a cheeky grin. "Hey, at least she basically said the colour looks good on you~"
"I would honestly be more convinced if she wasn't still mad at me..." Maehara sighed in disappointment.
"If only you never lied to me~" Miki hummed, not even once looking at him.
Maehara groaned in response. "C'mon Miki, that was way back in April. Can't you just drop it?"
"I think we're done here!" Miki suddenly announced, standing up straight after minutes of leaning.
Maehara sighed again, not surprised that she was purposely ignoring him. He's more than aware that last month's discourse with Kaho truly had him lose Miki's trust. He just didn't think that she was the type to hold grudges for this long.
"I don't know about you, but I think it'd better if you just stop bringing it up to her every other day?" Nakamura said in a low voice, quirking an eyebrow at him. "Like no offense, Maehara-kun, but if I we're in Miki's position right now I'd be annoyed too."
"Rio, can you help me put back the testing palettes to their shelves?" Miki called out now from the other end of the aisle.
Sending Maehara one last look, Nakamura walked towards the taller blonde. "Sure~"
Maehara was then once again back to awkwardly standing by the shelves. However, it didn't take too long for them to return the testing products to their respective shelves.
"Say, Ryuu. You want me to remove all that now or are you planning to just leave it on?" Miki called out despite her hands currently full.
Chiba was examining Miki's work through the long mirror on top of the shelves. "Hmm I think I'll just leave it on and take it off myself once I get home," he answered, running his hands through his hair. "The shadow work is not heavy enough to look weird to wear in public.... thankfully."
"Yeah it doesn't look like you're wearing much," Nakamura commented, walking away from the counter near the aisle and towards him.
Most of the heavy shadow work Miki had done were on Chiba's lower lids and on the outer corner of his eyes. Hence why, unlike earlier when he had them half-closed, which made them look more obvious, they were barely noticeable now that he was looking ahead.
"Kinda looks like you're just wearing eyeliner with some colour here and there," Nakamura added with a slight grin. "You look good though, by the way."
"Thanks," Chiba replied almost shyly, though his following smile was making it more prominent. "My stage makeup is much heavier than this, especially the shadow work. Miki tends to go all out around my lower lashes especially..." He explained to them briefly, though more to Maehara since the guy looked kind of lost for a moment.
Maehara nodded in understanding. "Ahh that explains why it doesn't feel the same as last week's..."
Chiba hummed in reply, proceeding to mess with his hair again. "It's getting hotter outside but I can't leave my hair loose like this. I don't have anything to have it up," he briefly gathered his hair again, as if he was planning to tie it into a ponytail, but soon let go of it.
"...can't even wear it down with all the makeup now," he sighed, brushing it again with his fingers.
"Just tolerate the heat and make do with the bucket hat," Nakamura suggested, handing Chiba his white bucket hat which now that he thought about it, he had no idea how she even got a hold of it in the first place.
Maehara watched as Chiba brushed all of his hair backwards before putting on the hat. "Hey, don't pull it too down."
"Nah I'll look weird otherwise."
Maehara raised an eyebrow at his response. "What are you talking about? I'm pretty good-looking myself-"
Nakamura let out a gagging noise.
"but even I can- Will you stop that?!" Maehara hissed at Nakamura, who only stuck her tongue out to him in response.
Taking off the bucket hat, Chiba approached the counter where Miki was still waiting in line. "Miki, do you have anything with you?" He asked rather tiredly. "Hair tie, clip, a beanie, or just anything I can use?"
"Let me check," Miki quickly went through her tote bag. "Ah I have my beanie, though it's those bigger types..." She brought out a red beanie and handed it to him.
Chiba happily took it from her hands. "Oh I have one like this in blue, thanks!"
He went back to where Maehara and Nakamura stood and immediately wore the beanie. Tucking the rest of his hair behind his ears, Chiba looked at the mirror in mild satisfaction. "Hmm yep I guess that does it."
"Cute," Nakamura cheekily commented, thus ruining Chiba's composure as he broke into a shy smile.
"Be quiet," he muttered, turning his head away from the now grinning duo.
"Is it even fine for you to be seen with us on a Sunday afternoon?" Maehara suddenly brought up when they left the store.
"I think it's fine," Nakamura answered before Chiba even opened his mouth. "We took pictures last week and I posted some of mine on twitter too. So, it shouldn't be surprising to people that 'Lead Guitarist-kun' is hanging out with people his age on a weekend."
Miki hummed in agreement. "He's just a rather popular member of a local band in this town," she then scoffed, "not a damn celebrity for him to be not seen in public."
"That's true but I'm talking about us being class E students," Maehara turned to Chiba. "Since the reason why you even hid this whole band thing from us was so that people won't find out that you're a class E student technically participating in club activities," he elaborated.
Chiba nodded in confirmation. "You're right. But as they said, it's fine."
They all came to a stop before the pedestrian lane, waiting for the stoplight to turn green.
"We're not wearing our uniforms, so it'll be hard for people to even recognize you guys as students from class E.... let alone wonder why I'm hanging out with you," he reassured with a small smile.
"Exactly," Miki agreed before wincing when the sunlight suddenly came back. "Anyways, you guys got any place y'all want to go to? I don't like the sun..."
Maehara scoffed at her last remark. "Are you a vampire or something? Anyways, I want to go-"
"If you say Marui, I will deck you."
"Come on now. I didn't even say anything!"
"That place is on the other side of the town, you dumbass, and I'm about to die here."
"A little sunlight won't kill you!"
Nakamura just watched the two continuously bicker and turned to Chiba with a grin. "There's a cafe nearby just across the lane. Wanna go there and get some of their iced offers?"
"That works," he replied with a fairly amused smile.

how to choose hydrangeas in a bouquet - tips of florists
Romantic, airy, tender - these are all definitions of amazing hydronium. It is given in mono books and added to the most feminine and refined compositions. Recipients like bright colours and lushness of inflorescences, and donors appreciate flowers for a relatively low cost during the season, the more it lasts long - from midsummer to the end of November.
In the article we will tell you what hydrangea are and how to choose them correctly for the bouquet. We also give examples of the best combinations of lush flower with other plants.
what are the types and varieties of hydronium
The homeland of hydrangea is Japan, and there you can still go to the mountains, find a beautiful wild shrub hydrangea, carefully dig it up and plant it in your garden. Therefore, even the Japanese cannot say exactly how many varieties exist in nature.
But in Russia and Europe, a classification has been drawn up. Here are some popular types of hydronium:
• Tree-like with lush white inflorescences consisting of miniature three-leaf flowers;
• Frost-resistant blizzard with cone-shaped fragrant inflorescences;
• DuBois with neater petals the same as the previous kind, elongated;
• Cherry with slightly careless, loosely adjacent flowers;
• Ash with small white or slightly silver flowers, which are collected in thyroid inflorescences;
• Radiant with small flowers, which are collected in a "cap" with a diameter of 12 cm;
• It's big. It is most often grown for cutting and can be seen in floral shops.
Each species of shrub has up to a few dozen varieties, which differ in shades. The hydrangea palette is diverse: lettuce, purple, pink, white, magenta, lavender, blue, blue, with light or vice versa, dark edge. All these shades have a large-leaf variety, which we will talk about below.
how to choose the right bouquet of hydrangeas for a gift
Hydrangea is a flower that can stand in a vase for more than a month, and if it is dried, up to six months. But the time frame is correct provided that you bought newly cut flowers. Recommendations of florists Semi flower will help to determine the freshness of hydrangeas and choose the best for a gift:
• There should be no broken branches or broken branches on the stem;
• The cut flower, which is properly cared for, cut smooth, light, without dark heterogeneous spots.
• Leaves should be monotonous saturated-green colour, without breaks, yellow or dried areas.
• It is usually advised to buy half-soluble flowers, but hydrangea and inflorescence can be completely swollen. Underdeveloped buds won't open.
When choosing a bouquet of hydrangea, consider the reason, age and status of the recipient. Girl, girl or sweetheart on a romantic occasion give flowers of light tones: white, soft blue or pastel-pink. Bright mixes will be suitable for the birthday. To the woman with whom you have a business relationship, present a composition of hydrangeas of noble blue, purple, burgundy, lime shades or indigo colours.
what flowers combine hydrangea in a bouquet
When a florist collects a floral composition, his task is to emphasize the beauty of each flower. Hortensia is very self-sufficient, so it is difficult to find worthy companions. But for the masters there is nothing impossible. We offer the top five plants, which beautifully combine hydrangea:
• Ecuadorian and peony sterling roses are the most company. They have large buds and a palette similar to shades of hydrangea, so you can assemble a monochrome ensemble. Or play on the contrast, for example, combine a few scarlet buds and white inflorescences. The duo looks unusual, bright and juicy.
• The texture and shape of the peonies complements the rhythm of hydrangea, so the bouquet looks harmonious. Due to the lushness of both plants, the composition is voluminous, even if it consists of a small number of stems.
• Very popular among our customers are laconic bouquets from one branch of hydrangea and gypsophila. Florists design them in designer packaging and turn them into an inexpensive but beautiful surprise.
• Successful combination of hydrangeas and ranunculi’s. The main thing is that the latter have large spiral buds.
• EU stoma looks as easy and weightless as hydrangea. If you collect the ensemble in pastel colours, you will have a gentle and feminine gift.
When the hydrangea season comes, do not miss the chance to give them to loved ones. Order mono compassion or designer ensembles, especially since you now know that hydronium can be combined with many colours.

someone asked about question 2 and i just missed the ask, sorry! here goes;
LIST
2. How many and what colours are the blankets they like to snuggle in?
They have several, of various colors, however much they tried to maintain a color palette when they started buying them when they moved in together, the two never knew if coral would match dark blue, or if purple would look good alongside red
But there are two favorites.
Each prefers one, for totally different reasons.
Harry prefers a dark blue, which is heavy and is always chosen when the winter is terrible. He always says it’s because it’s soft and cozy, but in fact he could never forget that that piece was the first thing they bought when they moved in together, and that later, while they were lying on a mattress on the floor, they snuggled up and they laughed together, talking about the decoration of the house and why the kitchen could not be painted yellow. He's a romantic guy, who can judge him?
Ginny, on the other hand, prefers simple chess, which they usually wear in the summer when they are just protecting themselves from the wind, without really wanting to keep warm. That play was where Harry asked her to live with him, after they had sex and talked about how difficult it was to sneak into The Burrow at dawn. They were barely seeing each other and it was starting to upset them, so he just turned and asked if she didn't want to move. Some time later, while they were eating ice cream on the sofa, watching a Muggle movie, Harry proposed to her, half drunk from the wine they had taken earlier and wearing only her underwear and a shirt from the Harpies. It was impossible not to love that old sheet (even though Harry always wanted to disappear with it, since, in his words, ''didn't match the decor’’)

The Squidbeak Splatoon - Third Time’s the Charm Chapter 1: The Great Squidnapping
In the far flung future, centuries from our time…
The world is nothing but vast & endless oceans, as far as the eye can see. Aside from the deep-sea world, there was no life to be seen. However, if you look just a little bit further into the horizon… land!
At first glance, this bit of land looks unremarkable as monochrome colours dominate everything in sight. But it’s when you take a deeper look into this land that you see something different, something not at all what it appears to be on the outside.
Welcome to Inkopolis… to the City of Colour!
The streets, the markets, the residence, the city center, everywhere you look, there is a new colour to gaze upon. Bright or Dark, Plain or Mixed, Singular or Combined, every colour in the collective Palette is there to enjoy! This gives the residence of Inkopolis a sense of energy & enthusiasm all day long. At night, these same colours along with the city’s beautiful lighting give way to a dazzling view that invoke feelings of imagination & serenity.
The people of Inkopolis are full of various races that have evolved beyond their Cephalopod roots to live freely on land. Jellyfish, Horseshoe Crabs, Urchins, Prawns & most dominantly, the Inklings. Inklings are a unique Species of Inkopolis because they’re half human & half Squid who can change between the two forms at will.
Also compared to normal Squids, their Ink Production is faster & much more potent. They need to be for them to participate in Inkopolis’ most famous sport: Turf War.
2 Teams of 4 Inklings battle each other in a game of Territorial Control, where players must paint as much area as possible using special weapons that utilize their natural ink as ammunition. The more turf inked, the more points that team gets, with the winner being the team with the most turf controlled when time runs out.
Certainly, the City of Inkopolis is a land that embodies enthusiasm, energy, competition & interaction. A perfect blend for a peaceful & prosperous community! But that same peace & prosperity would soon come under threat…
One day, sometime before a special Turf War Event called a “Splatfest” was scheduled to begin, people on the streets were surprised by a breaking citywide broadcast. Callie & Marie, Inkopolis’ Top Pop Idol Duo, take the stage…
Callie: “We interrupt this program to bring you important news!”
Marie: “The Great Zapfish, source of all power for Inkopolis… has mysteriously vanished.”
Callie: “City Officials have released this picture showing a crashed UFO, which was taken around the estimated time of our Zapfish’s disappearance!”
Marie: “We encourage everyone to share any information about this UFO & others that may lead to the missing Zapfish.”
Callie: “Until the Great Zapfish is recovered, we advise Turf War Veterans to expect restrictions & limitations on battle scheduling, public or private… That includes the upcoming Splatfest, which is -as of now- on hold indefinitely.”
Marie: “Our sincere apologies for any inconveniences…”
Callie: “That’s all for now. Thank you everyone & until next time…”
Callie & Marie: “Stay Fresh.”
But the public was feeling anything BUT “Fresh”. Everyone was sent into a silent panic. Who could’ve done that? How did we not notice? What’s going to happen to us?!
The Great Zapfish is an entity as big as an observatory tower that is the main source of energy for the entire city. Even in its absence, Inkopolis can still run on reserve power, but that will only last for about 2-3 months at best. People throughout the city, for the next few weeks, would live in fear & hopelessness of having to leave in the near future…
Over a Month Later…
Inkopolis still runs, but it’s clear that the dwindling power has robbed it of its enthusiasm. There aren’t as many lights bathing the city as it used to, most have resorted to staying at home out of fear & a select few fled the city to find a new place to live. What was once a city of energy, is now slowly losing all signs of life. But somewhere within the center of Inkopolis, a small group of teenagers are still kicking hard in Turf War.
Day 1, Arowana Mall, 12:50-
8 Inklings are swapping ink against each other, one side Blue & the other Orange. 2 Blue Inklings holding an N-Zap & a Splat Roller push forward, jumping off the central hill in an attempt to claim more turf as the battle enters its final minute. Suddenly, one of them gets splatted out of nowhere, while the other gets echolocated as she attempts to escape. She gets splatted by an Aerospray on her way forward.
Aerospray Inkling: “Nice going, Miwa!”
Miwa: “You can thank me later, let’s push!”
Miwa is a 14 year old Inkling who’s considered of the most skilled on the turf; one of very few who reached the coveted S+ Ranking. She’s proficient with most weapons, prefers Chargers & despises Blasters.
The battle ends with a score of 57-39 for Team Orange. The winning team jumps for joy & exchanges high fives in celebration as a member of the losing team steps forward.
N-Zap Inkling: “Y-You all got lucky because you had a Charger on your side!”
Miwa: “(Ho boy, here we go again…)”
Aerospray Inkling: “Is that so? Wanna trade & see how it ends?”
Splat Roller Inkling: “Yes! Let’s rematch!”
But just as they were about to start, an official of the Turf War Management approaches them, saying they’ve reached the maximum allowed number of matches & they’re to leave immediately.
Splat Roller Inkling: “But… But that’s not fair; we’ve only had 2 matches. Isn’t the maximum limit supposed to be 5?”
Official: “New rules have been placed: 2 per group only, regardless of arrangements.”
& just like that, everyone packs their things in misery & returns to the City Center…
Inkopolis Plaza, 13:15-
Miwa sits on a bench drinking here favourite juice as she relaxes after being forced to stop battling on such short notice. As she throws her empty bottle in the bin, 2 friends arrive to join her.
Green Inkling: “Yo! Reached your threshold already?”
Miwa: “Let me guess: Reduced Turf War Capacity?”
Purple Inkling: “Yeeeah, what a pain…”
Miwa: “Relax guys, I’m sure it’ll all be fine. Can’t let those smiles turn upside down, right?”
Both of her friends look at her speechlessly, their expressions arched in worry…
Ever since the Great Zapfish’s disappearance, Miwa & several others have been trying to get some energy back into everyone by engaging in Turf Wars as much as possible, creating enthusiasm through tense competition & distracting the public from the crisis. But as the days went by with no sign of the Great Zapfish returning, their efforts soon fell to deaf ears & now, they’re slowly losing their battling privileges.
Purple Inkling: “Listen, maybe… we should go plan our move out & get it over with. I’m sure there’s plenty of land outsi—“
Miwa: “& give up on everything we have here?! Like it’s all worth NOTHING to us?!”
Green Inkling: “Girl, there’s not much else we CAN do. We gotta move on…”
Miwa: “I can’t… I WON’T allow…..”
A cold silence descends upon the 3 companions, as if to look for a way to challenge each other’s arguments, to challenge the very desperate situation they find themselves in. Yet sadly, quietness…
Then…
Green Inkling: “Gals look, it’s HIM again! Haha!”
Miwa’s green friend points towards the Vending Machines Corner, an old man sits under a manhole cover looking around as if seeking something.
Miwa: “*Again*??”
Purple Inkling: “Oh you’ve never seen him? He always shows up here between 13-14 o’clock for some reason. What is this bum doing? Hehehe!”
Miwa: “Heh beats me, I don’t live in the sewers myself!”
The 3 continue laughing as Miwa decides to take a picture of this peculiar man. Moments after she’d put her phone down, the old man starts looking directly at her, exchanging such a sharp gaze. Miwa stares in confusion.
Miwa: “(Why’s he looking at me like that? Did he catch me taking his picture? What’s wi—)”
Miwa’s friends tap her shoulder to say goodbye in a hurry. As soon as she turns to face the old man however, he was no longer there. She waits a little longer hoping to see him again, but he never does & Miwa decides to return to her apartment for the day.
Flounder Heights, 18:45-
Miwa sits on her desk working on whatever homework she has to finish, however little there was to complete due to the crisis. She couldn’t help but think about the old man she saw in the Plaza. With her curiosity soaring high & an idea for a gag in mind, Miwa puts her pen down & starts surfing the web for something similar to his outfit.
Suddenly, she comes across a startling discovery. While the old man’s outfit was nothing to write home about, the hat was EXTREMELY valuable: The Legendary Cap. A very special & rare headgear that only the best of Inklings were awarded with it for their services & bravery in the Great Turf War, 100 years ago.
A cap like this is IMPOSSIBLE to get, even with the help of the back alley dealers like Spyke!
Miwa: “(What was he doing with a hat like that! He couldn’t have stolen it… Is it a fake perhaps? &…) Why was he looking at me?”
One question lead to another, each without an answer. So, Miwa decides there was only one way to solve this mystery…
Day 2, Inkopolis Plaza, 13:40-
For the first time in over a month, Miwa didn’t take part in any Turf Wars. Rather, she spent her time waiting around in the plaza for the Cap wearing man. They look at each other from a distance for minutes on end, with Miwa waiting for the right opportunity to face him.
With each passing minute, she grows more tense. The old man was still looking at her & her alone.
Miwa: “(He’s not going to look anywhere else, isn’t he?... I need to find a way to distra—!!)”
& just like that, the old man vanished while she was looking around.
Miwa: “But it’s still 13:50 o’clock!”
She makes a mad dash for the manhole to investigate. No sign of him. There was only one way he could’ve escaped her sight…
Miwa: “Yuck… (Am I really doing this?...)”
Hesitation holds her in place, but not for long as her curiosity becomes too strong to bear.
She jumps into the manhole cover, unaware of what fate has in store for her…..
Unknown Area, 14:00-
After a unexpectedly long journey in the dark depths, Miwa finally emerges to find that she’s now FAR outside the city limits, tall cliffs & waterfalls encircle a bowl shaped area full of small islands, each with its own theming. The most distinct landmark is a giant sculpture of an Octopus at the highest peak.
Miwa continues to admire the scenery, until she finds the old man beside a small shack.
Miwa: “Hello, sir?... W-What am I saying?! Listen, I need to know whe—“
Old Man: “That look in your eyes…”
Miwa: “Wha??”
Old Man: “I’ve been waiting for someone like you! You’re just who we need to defeat the Octarians!”
Miwa: “Octarians? You mean the ones Inklings fought in the Great Turf War? Wait, are you some sort of military general?”
Old Man: “Absolutely! I’m Captain Cuttlefish, Leader of the Legendary Squidbeak Splatoon! A pleasure to make your acquaintance, welcome to Octo Valley.”
After exchanging introductions, the Captain moves on to explain what’s going on. It seems that he’s been investigating the Great Zapfish’s disappearance alone & has concluded that it was the Octarians’ who stole it, as revenge for their defeat in the Great Turf War 100 years ago.
Despite his best attempts, he wasn’t able to get anyone to believe his findings & is currently understaffed to do the job. This led him to try & find a capable Inkling from the streets of Inkopolis to help return the lost Zapfish, which is where Miwa comes in.
Miwa: “So, you want ME to help you recover the Great Zapfish?”
Cpt. Cuttlefish: “I won’t lie: It won’t be easy. We’re alone against an army. The best I can do to help you is provide telecommunication support & hide Mini Spawn Points around the valley, they will only save you so many times.
So, what will you do young one? Will you join me as my 3rd Agent on this covert mission?”
Most would take a step back to consider, but Miwa didn’t as she saw an opportunity. If she can do this, everything will be back to normal. She’ll take back her home, Turf Wars & bring back the Inkopolis she loves! Miwa turns to the Captain to give her answer, when…
Cpt. Cuttlefish: “I’ll take your silence as ‘Yes, of course I’ll help!’”
Miwa: “Wait What?!”
Cpt. Cuttlefish: “I’ll make the necessary preparations for you, so meet me again tomorrow at 12 o’clock!”
Miwa: “Wait a second!”
It was settled: Miwa will be the Squidbeak Splatoon’s Agent 3, on a quest to explore Octo Valley, stop the Octarian menace & retrieve the stolen Great Zapfish!
Will she succeed? What obstacles await her? Tune in next time for Chapter 2: Krak on, Agent!
Thank you for reading & have a good day! 👋🏻😄

NO he makes me feel so comfortable. I’ve never felt so comfortable around someone I wasn’t dating.
One day will you be with him/her?
Honestly, probably not but maybe?
Do you get jealous when he/she talks to the opposite sex?
No. This is weird, but we actually encourage each other to get out there and be with other people since we really can’t have each other and we’ve accepted that.
Will you wait for him/her, to be yours?
I honestly don't want anything right now, so I’m willing to wait for now. Once I’m settled and know what I want in life I’ll move on if were still not together.
Are they more shy or outgoing?
He's outgoing
Y'all have the same group of friends?
No
Does your crush smell nice?
I mean, yeah. He doesn’t wear cologne or body spray or anything but his normal human smell was nice?
Does your crush have a nice smile?
That goofy smile tho (yes).
Are they kind to you?
Yes he is SO sweet it hurts.
Are y'all considered friends or acquaintances?
We’re friends.
When’s the last time you saw them?
Saturday.
Do you have their phone number?
Yeah but we usually talk through snapchat.
Is your crush talkative or more of a listener?
He's a talker but he’s a good listener too.
Can they speak more than one language?
90% sure he can speak at least some German.
Where did y'all meet?
Work.
Do they live close to you?
No. He's literally over 500 miles away.
Have you ever been to their house? How about their bedroom?
Yes and yes.
Do you even vaguely believe your crush is interested in you?
I answered this earlier. It’s complicated.
If given the chance, would you have sex with them?
Yes.
Have you ever hugged or kissed your crush?
Yes.
Ever seen em naked? Do you wanna?
I have, and I wouldn’t say no to doing it again.
Does your crush have long hair?
No it’s super short.
Do you think you’ll lose contact with your crush within 5 years?
I hope not but maybe.
Is your crush more naughty or good/innocent?
He can be both.
Is your crush gay/straight/bisexual/transgender?
When I asked him he said “bi-ish” so
Is your crush a freak? Sexually speaking…
I’d call it adventurous and experienced.
Is your crush a virgin?
No.
Do they have any pets?
No.
Do they have a job? If so, where do they work?
Yes he has a job at a company which I’m not going to name.
Do you know if they have an STD or not?
If he does he hasn’t told me, and it’s kind of common courtesy to tell someone you have an STD if you sleep with them sooooo
What kind of music are they into?
Um, rock probably? He also likes musicals so there’s that.
Their fave color? If you don’t know just guess
His favorite color is blue (even though he’s blue/green colorblind).
How long have you known em?
Less than a year.
Their fave type of food? Guess if you don’t know
I don’t know but probably like burgers cause he tried to take me to a bar for food.
When will you see your crush again?
Quite possibly never which is literally awful to think about. Hopefully sometime in the future.
Is your crush extremely confident?
He’s pretty confident.
What’s ultimately stopping you from making them yours?
Distance.

Mystic Messenger | Storge
AO3 | FF.net
An old story that I thought should finally see the light of day. This story is N O T based on Saeran’s route. I set this story months after the secret ending so there will be details that are not aligned with Saeran’s route. I have additional notes in FF.net/AO3 so if you’re interested, do give either pages a visit.
Now, on to the thing!
Enjoy.
Rating: PG-13
Pairing: 707 | Luciel | Saeyoung Choi/Main Character; Unknown | Saeran Choi and Main Character
Warning: Mentions of suicide
Word Count: 3,997
Storge
The ringtone distorted the calm Saeran made around himself. He barely recognised it at first… until it rang clear and persistently in his pocket. He opened his eyes with reluctance. Glancing up at the sky, he asked the clouds why the world was hell bent on breaking his peace. It was tempting to ignore it, but it could be Saeyoung calling. The last time Saeran ignored his call he persisted until Saeran answered. Questions shot out of Saeyoung like a bullet: how was he? Where was he? Was he okay? Was he happy? Was he safe? Saeran remembered his voice being high, rushed, stressed in a way that made him feel pain in his chest.
After that he just answered every time his brother reached out to him.
He retrieved the phone. It wasn’t Saeyoung’s name on the caller ID. But it was close enough.
“Saeran!” Lux’s singsong voice floated from the speaker. “Let’s play a game.”
The way she talked sounded as if every sentence ended with a heart or tilde. Saeyoung’s much the same. It was a wonder that such people existed in real life. “A… game?”
“The ‘spot the cute redhead sitting in the park’ game!”
“What—”
He felt a gentle poke on his cheek. “I win.”
Saeran sighed and ended the call. “Do you even know how games work?”
“LOLOL counts, right?” she sat next to him and beamed when he looked at her. She did that often… smiling. There was never a day when she didn’t smile. Even after knowing that he was the one who made her and her beloved RFA suffer, she still smiled at him. Was that even normal for a person? “How are you today?”
“I’m okay.”
“Yeah?”
She was staring at him. He held her gaze. “I am.”
“Good,” she chuckled and looked at the sky. “Today’s weather is good, isn’t it? The sky’s the bluest I’ve ever seen in a while! I was thinking… oh, Saeran would love to paint that.”
“I… never noticed.” Did she really think of such things? Why would she think about him? She must have something more important than him to think about. He appraised her before looking up at the sky too. “Now that you mentioned it, though…”
“Right? Let’s take a photo!”
“I don’t need it.”
“You never know. The sky’s such a unique colour.”
“Whatever,” he sighed and watched her take photos. She tilted her phone this way and that, fiddling with the zoom and focus to get the best image possible. When he was younger, in the rare days V and Rika picked him up, he’d get to see V do the same things. He’d put that complicated camera of his in weird positions to get the photo he wanted. At times, to Saeran and Rika’s amusement, he would put himself in silly positions—lie on the ground or dangle from tree branches—to capture that perfect moment.
“What do you think?”
She shoved the phone underneath his nose. Saeran leaned back, lowering her wrist to a safer height, and flicked through the images. Some were in strange angles, some had either the sky or the park cut off. However, toward the end of the line-up was a photo that showed the perfect amount of both. From the top it looked like a never ending cascade of blue. However, as his eyes continued to travel down the sky was greeted by an expanse of green with smatterings of vibrant reds, purples, and yellows with the fountain in the middle as if to hold sky and land together.
“This,” Saeran said, showing the photo to her.
“Oh, nice! This one’s my favourite!”
He narrowed his eyes at her. “Do you really think that?”
“Of course.”
“And if I picked something you didn’t like?”
“… I would tell you that I didn’t like it.”
The pause she took before answering spoke volumes. So did the way her smile turned just a bit sheepish. He sighed. This one was too easy to read. He thought the same thing the first time they spoke, though they had a chatroom between them. At least Saeyoung provided some challenge. But he supposed her kind of openness was what changed his brother. “You’re an idiot.”
Lux chuckled, defeated, and bowed her head. “Yes.”
“I hate liars the most.”
“Understood, sir, sorry.”
Saeran frowned. “What’s with the ‘sir’?”
Suddenly, she straightened and looked him in the eyes. “Okay, so I do like the ones with the strange angles more, but the one you picked was my favourite too, honest!”
“Fine.” He returned the phone to her. “I’m sticking with my choice.”
“As you should,” she laughed and glanced at her watch. “Shall we go? Let’s pick up your supplies before we go to lunch.”
He stared at her as she rose. The conversation was over. He took his stance, told her about it, and she accepted it. Just like that. Because that’s the way it should be. It’s been eight months since Magenta… but it was still a novel thing, how people easily accepted his words and actions and who he was as a person. They opened their arms to him, embraced him without criticism—but with condition. That condition being that he didn’t hurt himself or leave this world. They wanted him to stay—stay and be happy.
Living with such attitudes, going forward seemed easier nowadays.
Sometimes, though…
“Saeran?”
Lux held her hand out to him. He stared at it before taking it. “Let’s go.”
“Welcome—oh, you’re back!”
“Hello again.” Lux waved at the shopkeeper with a bright smile. Saeran followed her without a word of greeting. The shopkeeper walked into the back as they approached the counter. There were some pamphlets for upcoming exhibitions on display. Saeran inspected them and pocketed a few. Would he have a chance to hold an exhibition one day? Would the world appreciate who he was, what talent and skill he possessed? It would be nice if that were the case in the future.
“We have it all here.” The shopkeeper emerged with a neatly packaged box in her hands.
Saeran watched as the box was opened and the contents revealed. He leaned in close and rummaged inside carefully. It seemed that everything he ordered was there: acrylic and oil paints, brushes, palette knives, primers, retarders, and mediums.
“Everything there?” Lux murmured.
“Yeah.”
“Good.” She nudged him gently.
Saeran closed the box and faced the shopkeeper, heart lurching. His face felt hot. “Uhm… thank you.”
“You’re welcome.” She beamed.
“Thank you!” Lux said to the shopkeeper. “All right, let’s go to lunch.”
She moved to pick up the box, but Saeran swatted at her hands so he could lift it himself. “I want to look around a bit more.”
“Oh? Okie-dokie. Then let me hold—”
“No.” He made for the books aisle before she could reach for the box. He heard Lux rush behind him, but paid her no mind. His tutor recommended a theory book on the psychology of art; it sounded like an interesting read, but locating it in ordinary bookstores was hard. Perhaps a specialised arts supplies shop would have them.
“Saeran.”
“What is it?” he glanced at Lux and saw her examining the books.
She looked at him and smiled. “Painting makes you happy, right?”
“Happy?” he stopped walking. That question was sudden. Sighing sharply, he cradled the box underneath one arm as he rubbed the back of his neck. He had to think about it; the answers that came to him were complicated at best and would require some time to untangle. Only one thing was clear, however: “I suppose… I feel peaceful when I paint.”
“That’s good.”
“But, uhm…”
“Hmm?”
“Though I love painting the sky…” he dropped his hand, “I want to paint more things.”
He looked at her and… he’d never seen someone’s eyes sparkle so much—no, he had never seen someone’s eyes sparkle at all. So such things were possible. Or was that one of her special talent, to look impossibly bright? “Then, how about a road trip?”
“Road trip?”
“A RFA road trip.” Lux clapped her hands together, hopping on the spot. “Then you’ll see things you want to paint, right? It would be good for Saeyoung to go too; he’s in need of a break for a while now—oh, hang on.” She retrieved the ringing mobile from her bag and tapped on the screen. She held the device in front of her face and waved. “Speak of the devil. Hello, my love!”
“My princess, I missed you so, so, so much!” Saeyoung’s voice boomed throughout the aisle. Saeran cringed at the kissing noises he heard next. “What are you up to?”
She laughed. “I am on a date!”
“D-date!?” Saeyoung choked. Saeran watched from the sidelines as his brother tried to speak, but the words came out of his mouth in stuttered and confused bursts. “W-what? A d-date? B-but—what? With who?”
Lux, giggling, looked at Saeran and waved him over. Oh, good. He’s getting roped in this too. He shuffled over and stood behind her, resting his chin on her shoulder so he could get into the view of the camera. He breathed deeply and said a very monotone: “Tada…”
“Saeran!” the extreme relief on Saeyoung’s face was too obvious. He laughed. “I see. You’re finished with class, then. Are you okay? Having fun with Lux?”
“She’s all right.”
“Wow, Saeran complimented me.” Lux leaned her head against his and stroked his hair. It… wasn’t unpleasant.
“Aw, I’m jealous. I want a compliment too—”
“Are you calling someone!?”
“Shit, busted—” Saeyoung looked over his shoulder as footsteps reverberated out of the speaker. The video shook. Saeran glimpsed a purple collar and a leopard print lined jacket. “Whoa—wait, Miss Vanderwood! I’m talking to the two most important people in my life right now!”
“I don’t care if you’re talking to God himself! You put that phone down and get to work!”
Saeran scowled. This idiot… “You’re not done with work?”
“No.” The video stabilised, showing Saeyoung’s sheepish, but unapologetic expression. Just behind him was Vanderwood’s torso. He was crossing his arms, fingers tapping impatiently. “I can’t stop thinking about Lux and I can’t focus… so…”
“So, you’re procrastinating right now.”
Saeyoung winced. “Well—”
“You’re procrastinating.”
“Turn the phone off!”
Vanderwood swatted at the phone and the video shook again. “Fine—back off, I will! Just let me say goodbye!” the video straightened, showing Saeyoung once more. Though he looked resigned, he was grinning as he waved. “Well, I have to go. I love you, Lux.”
“I love you too.”
His grin widened and he turned to Saeran. “Have fun, Saeran. Bring Lux back home safe, okay? Counting on you.”
Saeran narrowed his eyes and said nothing. Without a shadow of a doubt he knew his brother would call Lux again in the next hour with another useless reason. Then he’d do it again… and again, extending his work hours well into the late night when he’d stay up and not sleep because he had to finish the work he put off. It’s counterproductive, a waste, and unhealthy. He glanced at Lux, an idea forming in his mind.
Well, he’d put a stop to that behaviour right now.
He leaned over and kissed Lux on the cheek.
One second passed. Two. Saeyoung’s face was frozen in shock. Lux, meanwhile, seemed to have transformed into a statue. God, he wanted to crack a smile. The two looked so similar in their surprise that if he were to overlap their faces he wouldn’t be able to tell them apart. He remained silent and waited, wondering who would crack first.
“Ohhh!” Lux cried, cheeks reddening as she touched where he had kissed her.
“S-Saeran!” Saeyoung gasped, looking betrayed.
“She’s cute.” Saeran smirked at his brother, putting his hands on Lux’s shoulders. “So… I won’t bring her back home.”
“You won’t bring her back—?”
“Unless you finish your work.”
“But—”
He scowled. “Finish your work.”
“I—okay! I’ll work.” Saeyoung straightened, arranging his glasses with a determined look on his face. “I’ll work. So give her back to me.”
“Don’t call again.” Saeran reached out and ended the call. He stepped from Lux, blowing hair out of his eyes as though he hadn’t just threatened to kidnap his brother’s girlfriend. Not that he would, but… jolting someone into finishing their work was not a bad tactic sometimes.
“Forceful Saeran is scary.”
He turned to Lux with a snort. She no longer looked shocked—rather, that sparkle returned in her eyes. “Idiot. Don’t tell me you didn’t enjoy that.”
She stuck out her tongue. “A little bit.”
He rolled his eyes, but the corners of his lips twitched up slightly. “Come on. I’m hungry.”
“Let’s go!”
The café was nearly at capacity. The patrons consisted mostly of young people in couples or groups. Saeran recognised some people from university. There were families there as well, spending time together, and workers on their lunchbreaks winding down. Saeran walked in first, his stomach fluttering at the bell tinkling as the door swung open. He released the door—then remembered that Lux was with him. Startled, he looked back and saw that she caught the door. She was smiling at him… again.
“Sorry,” he said.
“It’s okay,” she chuckled. “Lead the way.”
The exchange was over. He didn’t have to repeat his apologies. It wasn’t forced or beaten out of him. He didn’t have to atone for his mistake—in fact, Lux seemed to have forgotten about it already. Confusion overtook him as pieces of his past and present clashed against each other. His mind oscillated fast between what should and should not be, creating a muddled ball of discomfort in the pit of his stomach. He closed his eyes and breathed deeply. When he opened them again he caught Lux peering at him with worry. Clearing his throat, he avoided her eyes and led her to an available table next to the window.
“Are you okay?” Lux asked as she sat across him.
“I am now,” he answered, placing the box on the empty chair next to him.
She stared at him again. This time he held her gaze. She smiled. “Okay.”
He sat back as she looked at the menu. The fluttering in his chest returned as he looked around—just looking. It wasn’t as though he was specifically searching for something or someone. What other reason did he have other than to observe? He glanced at Lux and saw her staring at him, still smiling. “What?”
“I’m just honoured you took me to your favourite place.”
His brows furrowed. “This isn’t…”
She chuckled. “How did you find it?”
“It’s… close to university,” he said, adjusting the collar of his shirt.
“Ah. You come here often with friends?”
“I’m usually alone.” His face warmed. Why was that? “Sometimes with classmates—not exactly friends. Saeyoung comes along too at times.”
“That’s wonderful. I hope I get to meet your classmates one day—”
“Saeran! Knew I wouldn’t mistake that hair.”
Saeran’s heart stopped at the voice. The heat on his face crept down to his neck. It was a bad idea to come here—to bring Lux here. Half of him wanted to hide deep, deep in the ground. The other half, for some reason, wanted to bounce around like some hyper rabbit. Both of those feelings were not ideal to act on, surely. It’d make him look like a moron, wouldn’t it? No. He had to act as normal as possible. As normal as possible. Saeran sighed and faced the owner of the voice. “Jinun… hi.”
“Hi? Don’t be a stiff—come here!”
In one second he was being pulled out of his chair. In the next he was enveloped in an embrace tighter than Saeyoung’s. His nose pressed against a shirt that smelled like cologne, fresh laundry soap, and slightly burnt pastry. His face was now burning hotter than the sun… and the thought of Lux witnessing this made it supernova. He had the urge to reach out and cover her eyes from this embarrassment, but his arms wouldn’t listen and simply hung by his sides.
“How are you? All right?” Jinun finally released him.
“Fine,” Saeran replied, voice tight. From the corner of his eye he noticed Lux’s shocked face.
“Good.” Jinun patted his hair. “You know, I feel better now that I’ve seen you.”
“Ah…” what’s he supposed to say to that? “Oh.” He turned to Lux. His stomach felt like it was doing backflips. Why was it doing that? It’s distracting him, scrambling his mind into malfunctioning goo. “This is… uhm… this…”
“Hello, I’m Lux,” she held her hand out.
“I am Jinun, Saeran’s classmate.” He took her hand and inclined his head to her.
“It’s finally good to meet one of Saeran’s classmates.”
“Well, it’s finally good to meet you.”
Lux beamed as she released his hand. “You know me?”
Jinun nudged Saeran gently. “He’s told me about you.”
Her cheeks pinked and eyes sparkled as she glanced at Saeran. “Really?”
Saeran avoided her eyes. He didn’t know what to think. He was certain that electricity had exploded from the spot where Jinun’s shoulder brushed against his and it was paralysing him right now. “Just a passing mention.”
“Still, I’m flattered!”
“Now that’s the whole family, isn’t it?” Jinun said, nudging him again.
“Sort of.” It was just a nudge—a simple, sometimes annoying bumping of one appendage to another. Why was Saeran feeling electricity from the same spot every time Jinun nudged him?
“Sort of? Then, you’ll let me meet the rest, right?” Jinun winked at him. Saeran’s face heated up again and he looked down as he sank back into his seat. He didn’t know what to say anymore. Embarrassment flooded his whole body when he heard Jinun chuckle. He wasn’t being made fun of, was he? “So, what will it be?”
Saeran kept his head down. Lux and Jinun started talking; they were talking about the menu. With his thoughts turned inward, Saeran realised that his heart was pounding. He couldn’t stop replaying what Jinun had said and done in his head. It was illogical—why was he focusing on these things? It wasn’t particularly important or memorable, but he couldn’t get it out of his head. Why was that?
“What would you like, Saeran?”
That. Nudging Again. He jumped when the menu slid underneath his gaze. He looked at Lux and she was smiling at him… again. Though this one seemed loaded… as if she knew something he didn’t. He squirmed and quickly opened the menu, quickly perusing it for something simple. “Uhm… roast beef sandwich… and coke.”
“Right. I’ll take this order to the kitchen. Your drinks will be right out.”
“Thank you!” Lux said.
Saeran closed the menu in time to see Jinun smile at him before walking away. He watched his classmate disappear into the kitchen. With a relieved sigh, he looked away—only to see Lux still smiling at him. “What?”
She giggled. “This place… is really nice, isn’t it?”
He blinked. “Huh?”
In no time at all, Jinun returned carrying a tray of drinks and a small crystal vase holding a single red rose. He stopped before them, took a tall glass full of pink liquid and placed it in front of Lux. “Pink lemonade for the lady and a coke for Saeran.” After placing the glass in front of Saeran, Jinun then planted the vase right next to it. “And a bonus—because it matches your hair.”
Saeran choked.
“Your food will be served soon.”
“Thank you!” Lux sang.
Saeran stared at the rose Jinun left. He was certain he was being gawked at because of that display, but he couldn’t bring himself to verify. It matched his hair? Really? The reason was silly, but… for some reason it was making Saeran feel all sorts of warm inside. Should he reciprocate? What should he give? A flower as well? But it would be embarrassing if he gave a flower to another man, wouldn’t it? He didn’t know. Perhaps he could ask Lux about it.
“Uhm… hey—” Saeran looked at Lux—she was still smiling at him! “W-what now?”
“He’s cute, isn’t he?”
Saeran’s face reddened. “H-how would I know!?” he blurted. “W-what’s with that question!”
She laughed. “So cute!”
He sighed irritably. “Stop with the cute stuff or I’m really not taking you home.”
“No, please return me to Saeyoung!” still chuckling, she produced her phone from her bag. She fiddled with the screen before pointing it at him. “Smile!”
Saeran scowled. “What? Why?”
“Because your face is so red it’s matching the flower too!”
Saeran’s eyes widened. He reached across the table to swipe at the phone. “O-oi—don’t—”
“Got it!” he heard the unmistakeable click of the camera. She lifted the device to her face and began typing furiously. “Everyone in the messenger will be happy about this—”
“Don’t put that in the messenger—!” Saeran tried swiping at the camera again, but Lux lifted it out of his reach.
“Too late!” laughing, Lux showed the screen to him. The chat bubbles from the messenger scrolled up quickly as the RFA members sent one message after another. Horrified, Saeran took the phone and nearly pressed it to his face. God, they’re making fun of him, aren’t they? They’re disgusted by him, surely. This type of humiliation suited him; after everything he had done, he didn’t deserve to have anything normal in his life—
ZEN: Saeran’s got a crush on someone!?
ZEN: Unfair!
ZEN: You’re supposed to let your elders go first!
Jumin Han: Then, should I be complaining more than you?
Jaehee Kang: ;;;;;
ZEN: Robots don’t count lolol
Yoosung★: He is blushing!
Yoosung★: So cute!
Jaehee Kang: I believe this is the first time I have seen him flustered. ^^
Jaehee Kang: Congratulations on finding someone!
They’re… they’re not making fun of him. They seemed to be happy for him. The tension that stiffened all of Saeran’s body left, making him slump against the chair in sudden exhaustion. The messages kept coming, becoming more ridiculous as the RFA now started throwing courting suggestions at him. As he continued to read a peculiar, uncontrollable feeling began to bubble from his chest. “They’re… actually happy about it?”
“Well, of course they are—” Lux stopped as a snort escaped Saeran. They came unbidden, followed by chuckles that he couldn’t control. It wouldn’t stop. The chuckles turned into laughter. It was rough, husky, and strained—as if he hadn’t used this part of him in forever. “Wow… Saeran’s laughing.”
“It’s because—” he chortled, holding his stomach. God, it was beginning to hurt… but it was the good kind. “You’re all weird—so weird!”
Lux quickly grabbed her phone out of his hands and he let her retrieve it as he concentrated on getting his laughter under control. It was surprisingly hard. The more he thought about what they said the more it made him want to laugh. He bowed over and pressed his forehead against the table, shoulders shaking.
“Well, you’re stuck with us weirdos.”
Finally, his laughter calmed and his mind cleared again. Stuck? Would he like that? At first all he thought about was being stuck. Here. In this life. He didn’t like it. He wanted to leave it. He wanted freedom as soon as possible. Earlier today he thought how living was easier now, but at the same time he was aware that the darkness within him could return one day to drag him down completely.
But right now, somehow, everything was bright. It was as if the sun had burst into his life and made permanent residence there. In the moment he was certain he could live another day. And the day after that… and the day after that. He wiped the tears from his eyes and smiled gently at Lux. “That… wouldn’t be so bad.”

KL Summarizes - Puella Magi Madoka Magica
By: KL Tiago
There are several tropes associated with the magical girl genre. Cute-yet-semi-trashy outfits. Impossibly coloured and styled hair. Overly-sexual magical transformations from school-girl to mystical-fighter... Puella Magi Madoka Magica has all of that and more, honey. Oh, but did I mention that unlike other magical girl series out there: it. Is. Dark. Very dark. Let’s discuss. Spoilers ahead, mama.
We start with school girls Madoka and Sayaka living they boring-ass lives. We see some classic magical girl color-palette individuality going on here; one pink and one blue, you can tell homegirls are gonna have some hue-specific outfits when they transform, and bitch: they do. But first they’re just two regular youngins. And then they meet Kyubey.
Kyubey? Honey. Kyubey. Is. A. Bitch. But we’ll get to that.
Kyubey is cute AF. AF. Kyubey is half-bunny, half-cat, half-fox, sort of pink, sort of white; it is giving you beady-red-eyed-adorable-animalistic-ambiguity. The girls meet Kyubey and he telepathically spills the tea that he can grant them a wish. And not only can he grant you a wish–no bitch–Kyubey is a businessman; he will give you a two-for-one, Miss-Miss! Not only will you get a wish–BITCH!–you will also become a muthafucking MAGICAL GIRL.
Will you get magical powers? Yes! Will you get a fabulous outfit? Yas! Will you fight evil witches and save lives? YAS! Shit-is-look-ing-up, Mama! The girls meet a new friend, Mami, who has already got her wish and made a contract with Kyubey. She is living her best magical girl life, honey. She has yellow ribbons, boss-ass rifles and breasts which make no sense on a 15 year-old. She was also a friendless orphan until she met her two new friends, but she is lonely no more, honey! Yas! Friendship!
…
Enter Homura.
Homura Akemi is purple, sleek, and ready to motherfucking murder Kyubey. Why?–You ask–would anyone want to kill Kyubey? He is so fucking cute! Bitch, I’m about to get there.
One day, Madoka and Sayaka go with Mami while she out hunting witches; as the magical girls do. However, shit goes wrong this time… Shit goes side-ways. Shit goes so sideways that Mami gets her fucking head torn off. Literally. Well I suppose literally it’s bitten off, but still: shit gets real. Very suddenly. Ain’t nothing like seeing a magical girl go limp because a witch chomped her head off. Pret-ty fucked up. Must admit.
Homura dashes in to save the two girls, killing the witch who half-ate Mami, and warns these stupid bitches to stay the fuck away from Kyubey and to forget about being a magical girl.
Do they? Fuck no: this is a narrative, honey.
Sayaka ends up making a wish to save a boy who leaves her ass for some skank. She gets so emo about it homegirl’s Soul Gem–the source of her magical girl power–goes corrupt and she turns witch.
Oh yeah, bitch. Witches are just darkened magical girls. But that’s so weird since… Kyubey… makes magical girls… to fight witches… Oh shit.
YAS BITCH. KYUBEY IS FINESSE INCARNATE! Him and his people–The Incubators–feed off the powerful energies created by the magical girls after they turn into witches. He is lying to young girls and snatching their literal souls, honey! SAVAGE!
There’s a reason Homura been trying to kill this cat/dog/fox/rabbit/alien shit from the jump off. FURTHER PLOT TWIST: IT WASN’T EVEN THE JUMP!
Homura got suckered too, honey… like a million years ago! Bitch can travel in TIME! And what does she use her time travel for? Trying to save her dumbass friends. That’s a real one. Homura a real one. How many friends gon’ jump through time to save yo ass? Not many.
In every timeline her besties die or turn witch-bitch, so Homura goes back and tries it again. It’s sweet… and sad, because she literally is never successful.
But then Madoka makes a move.
After being the focus of Homura’s flagrantly-lesbian-obsessive timeline restarts, the energies surrounding Madoka have become hella powerful and so she will make a hella powerful wish. And she wishes to change the world: to stop magical girls from turning into witches when they die or get filled with sorrow. Instead, she will purify the souls while transcending into another universe, darling. Self-sacrifice is so chic.
Mama Madoka becomes a god, living in another realm and purifying the souls of magical girls while her friends live on happily.
…Or so we think, bitch!
In the third film we see all of the girls back alive and well fighting evil once more. Homura, being the boss-ass bitch she is, soon realizes something is fucked the hell up and discovers her and her friends have been plopped into an alternate reality formed by the power of a witch who is just about to transform. Shit gets even more real when Homura realizes that she is the witch who is about to go nuclear. Plot-fucking-twist! Homura got got by her damn-self!
As her soul is about to be corrupted and destroyed, Madoka comes to her, ready to purify her best friend and stop her from witching out. Homura sees her friend and seizes the opportunity. There are two omni-powerful 14 year-olds in this playground, Miss Thing. And one of them has no fucks left to give and a lesbian crush to act on.
After lifetimes of trying to save Madoka and failing, Homura chooses this moment to use all her power and retransform the world just as Madoka did, but this time she is the vengeful boss-demon-lord, honey. She saves her friends while also making Kyubey and his people her slaves who suffer corruption in place of the magical girls and Madoka. The only one who knows what truly happened, how Homura changed the world and is technically a sociopathic-all-powerful-demon-witch, is Sayaka. And Homura makes like Luca Brasi, and lets Sayaka know she better fall the fuck in line. Ain’t no one messing up this new timeline, honey. Homura has finally glowed up.
Puella Magi Madoka Magica is a phenomenal anime which I highly encourage you to invest in. I watched the three films, but there are full-season animes which play out the first two films. It is cute, it is depressing; what more could you want?!

Star Trek TNG: 10 Hidden Details About The Costumes You Didn’t Notice
Some things about Star Trek: The Next Generation are unforgettable, including the customing. Women could wear the pantsuit too, and wearing red didn't mean a character was marked for death. The show tried some new designs that didn't work out. Remember the man-skirts, also known as "skants," from the earliest episodes? There's something Paramount wants you to forget. Well, it was the '90s. Never mind that Gene Roddenberry had some weird ideas when it came to fashion in the future.
RELATED: 5 Reasons The Next Generation Is The Best Star Trek Series (& 5 Why It Will Always Be The Original Series)
What about the small things that we didn't notice? The following is a list of the features or details of the Star Trek: TNG uniforms and costumes that you didn't notice because you were mesmerized by Beverly Crusher's shoulder pads, Riker's chest hair, or Deanna's Troi's deep V-neck pantsuit.
10 Colour Changes
The color palettes of TNG were different from Star Trek: The Original Series in a lot of ways, with muted maroon and teal making up most of the scheme as opposed to the much brighter primary hues of the old series. Even the reds were taken down a few notches to a much darker tone.
This was a major change but unless you were familiar with the original show, and even if you were, it might have slipped under the radar. These changes applied to virtually all the costumes, with bright colors reserved for specific characters. Deanna Troi wears purple on a regular basis while very few others ever do. The very first episode, where Q's clothing as a judge is a bright red set against black, is an example.
9 One Piece, Two Piece
The updated uniforms for our intrepid explorers went through a few changes, some obvious, others subtle. Did you notice how the one-piece jumpsuits from Season 1 and 2 changed to a two-piece uniform in Season 3? The actors were uncomfortable in the spandex jumpsuits. The costumes were deliberately fitted to be a size too small, intended to streamline the actor's body.
RELATED: Star Trek TNG: 10 Things You Didn't Know About The Theme Song And Intro
Even Patrick Stewart's chiropractor didn't like them. The costuming department made a more comfortable alternative, but the jumpsuits never went away. You'll still catch some extras wearing them in later seasons if you keep an eye out.
8 Officer Ranks and Insignias
You might have noticed those three gold buttons that officers have on their lapels. Someone with a naval or military background probably understands the important underlying meaning of this small detail. These buttons are actually called "pips."
In the case of Starfleet officers, the number of gold pips denoted their role in the hierarchy of leadership. For Cadets, they mimic the ranks used for Lieutenants in the United States Army. This was used for the first time in TNG and continued into Voyager and Deep Space 9.
7 Rata, Tafar, and Tapan
Vulcan attire seems plain at first, which goes along with their generally modest aesthetic, but you'll notice there's more to the patterns if you take a closer look. The use of certain sacred letters on Vulcan clothing started in earnest with the Star Trek films and continued into TNG.
RELATED: Star Trek: Picard Is A Hybrid Of Discovery & Next Generation
The meaning of these symbols is still fairly secretive, but we know that they are the Vulcan words Rata, Tafar and Tapan. They represent concept, mental discipline, and the cerebral process, and are written in vertical lines on robes, shrouds and other types of Vulcan clothing. Malat, the word that means nature, is sometimes included.
6 Gemstones and Triangles
Certain symbols and shapes recur in ritual clothing from Vulcan well beyond what we know about the three main sacred symbols. These include triangles, gemstones, and unique attire never seen outside of sacred Vulcan rituals.
At the end of Star Trek: The Search for Spock, most of the robes worn in this scene are mostly either unmarked or decorated with an equilateral triangle, with some subtle exceptions. In TNG, Vulcan clothing often includes large gemstones, sometimes with the sacred letters that represent any or all of the letters for Malat, Rata, Tafar, and Tapan.
5 Fictional Boobage
Oh, so we're calling ourselves "woke" because men can wear skirts and women can be in charge of security? Then what's with all those padded bras, complete with seamless cups, that are required in every woman's costume?
RELATED: Star Trek Voyager: 5 Times Janeway Was the Best Captain (And 5 Times She Was the Worst)
Sorry to break your hearts fellas, especially you, Riker, but almost all of that cleavage was fake. This is nothing new, the practice had been going on since The Original Series. That is, until Captain Janeway showed up. Local Hollywood legend has it that Kate Mulgrew famously ripped her padded bra out of her uniform and threw it on the producer's desk, flat-out refusing to wear it. You go, girl!
4 Klingon Fashion
As their alliances changed, so did their clothing. The details of Klingon attire shifted dramatically between The Original Series and The Next Generation. That clunky gold Klingon Baldric was so overwhelming it drew your eye and obscured any other details.
Apparently, even actor Michael Dorn wasn't fond of the original design, as a Klingon might want something more rustic, and the costuming department agreed with him. By Season 2, in a change you probably missed, the Baldric was made out of a series of bicycle chains to make it look more Klingon and less Federation.
3 Smoking Accessories
This is more about the accessories for costumes, which can be as important as the costumes themselves. In a move that seems to contradict how modern and politically correct TNG was trying to be, take note of how often we see someone smoking.
RELATED: Star Trek: The 10 Deadliest Villains The Next Generation Crew Ever Faced
Whoopi Goldberg's recurring character, Guinan, was often seen smoking a cigarette. Data as Sherlock Holmes, or sometimes not as Sherlock Holmes, smoked the iconic pipe. Once you notice this, it's impossible to forget, and you'll be surprised at how often it happens.
2 The Combadges
It's more than a convenient way for Starfleet to find you. The badge each character wears has a specific design and meaning, and it's an essential part of your uniform. You know that stuff just got real when someone removed a combadge, making it a convenient plot device on top of everything else.
Somewhere between TOS and later episodes of TNG, there was a small design change. The combadges of later Star Trek shows, like TNG and Deep Space 9, have a more pronounced Starfleet "V" shape with a circle in the background, as opposed to the square design used on Star Trek: Voyager and later episodes of Deep Space 9.
1 Geordi's Visor
When Geordi Laforge is first examined by Doctor Crusher, they are discussing remedies for the constant pain he's in because of his visor. You had no idea since LaVaar Burton is a talented actor, but he really was in a lot of pain because of that thing.
It was an essential part of his costume, too, so there were few alternatives. When it was replaced by a heavier one that required actual screws, things got even worse. We know that actors are often coached to use discomfort or pain to their advantage, but this is too on the nose, or maybe we should say, on the head.

Makeup Inventory May 2017
I’m addicted to makeup and constantly want to collect new things--but between all that I’m already buying and the freebies I get, I really have a lot. I decided to take inventory of my lip and eyeshadow products to remind myself of what I have, what I can dupe, and for that matter what brands I should give a second look before buying from again. Because no matter how pretty something is, if it’s from a brand that has consistently failed to impress me, I probably won’t like it much. I added my thoughts for this reason, and if you want to refer to it to see what I think of a brand/product, feel free. This is mostly for my record-keeping purposes, but I love ranting about makeup so of course that happened.
1 Ulta Brand Lipstick (Matte Lip Crayon: “Engagement”)
Thoughts: This came in a gift bag from Ulta once, it’s fine for a casual day, very much a nude. The formula seems like a good alternative to high end brands if you feel saving.
1 Kat Von D Lipstick (Studded Kiss Mini: “Underage Red”)
Thoughts: This was in a Christmas gift set. It’s a great bright, neutral red, and I personally like the formula. Very much a matte bullet lipstick, so it does drag, but I find it comfortable.
8 Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipsticks (Full Size: “Bacca”, Mini: “Viola”, “Baci”, “Rubino”, “Patina”, “Fresco”, “Beso”, “Flume”)
Thoughts: One of my favorite liquid lipstick formulas. Slightly tacky on the lips, which keeps it from being drying, but isn’t overly sticky. Most of the colors reach full opacity, the texture is very moussey. The only shade that isn’t awesome is “Viola”, which as a bright, neon purple isn’t as opaque as I’d like. But it’s workable.
3 Too Faced Melted Lipsticks (”Melted Fig”, “Melted Chocolate Milkshake”, “Melted Chocolate Cherries”)
Thoughts: Not a huge fan of Too Faced, but I do overall like these lipsticks. “Chocolate Milkshake” is a great nude, especially with a bit of lip gloss on top. “Melted Fig” (a berry purpleish shade) is beautiful. The formula isn’t really matte, but lasts longer than a lot of cream bullet lipsticks. “Melted Chocolate Cherries” is a nice shade but dries weirdly.
7 Colourpop Ultra Matte Lipsticks (”Dr. M.”, “Jellies”, “Highball”, Pacific”, “Creeper”, “Bumble”, “Kapow”)
Thoughts: I really want to try the Ultra Satins when I get the money, but I don’t hate these. They’re just super hit and miss. The bold colors like “Dr. M.” (a dark green) and “Jellies” (a blue) actually look pretty nice. “Bumble” (a terra cotta nude), “Kapow” (one of those greige shades), and “Creeper” (a blue-toned red) look great on me. “Highball” (a bright pink) started out nice but is now super crumbly and patchy, impossible to apply, “Pacific” is a beautiful neon orange but always crumbles off the lips super fast. I don’t think I’ll get any more Ultra Mattes, but I’m open to the other lipsticks the brand has to offer.
1 Milani Amore Matte Liquid Lipstick (”Raving Matte”)
Thoughts: This is a great drugstore liquid lip. This range is metallic, and “Raving Matte” is a beautiful dark purple shade with a pinkish reddish reflect. It lasts long and is comfortable.
1 Limecrime Velvetine Liquid Metallic Lipstick (”Blondie”)
Thoughts: The band is shady as fuck, but I didn’t pay for this lipstick. Unfortunately, it’s a great formula. “Blondie” is a super metallic pale-pinkish-goldish shade that can be used as a lip topper as well. It’s very comfortable and long-wearing. Very intense.
1 Kiko Milano Cream Lipstick (No shade name; jet black)
Thoughts: Picked this up on a whim. Kiko Milano is an Italian brand that’s more drugstore-priced than mid- or high-end , and the products are generally very good. This lipstick is really opaque, does wear like a typical cream lipstick, but is easy to reapply.
1 Urban Decay Vice Lipstick (Bullet Form) (metallic, “Conspiracy”)
Thoughts: A solid metallic bullet lipstick. Doesn’t thrill me, but it’s good. The shade is a brownish plum metallic shade, very pretty. Wears like a cream lipstick.
1 Mary Kay Cream Lipstick (”Sizzling Red”)
Thoughts: Got this as a free gift, wouldn’t buy from Mary Kay. But it’s a pretty dark red, nice enough.
1 Bare Minerals Cream Lipstick (mini, “Marvelous Moxie”)
Thoughts: Free Ulta gift, a nice girly pink, not too bright, very flattering.
1 Marc Jacobs Cream Lipstick (mini, “Kiss Kiss Bang Bang”)
Thoughts: This was a Sephora birthday gift. Wouldn’t buy a Marc Jacobs lipstick full price after wearing it. It’s fine, but no better than the above mentioned Bare Minerals lipstick. The color is another basic pink.
Urban Decay Vice Lip Palette, “Blackmail” (sheer, “Sheer Shame”, cream “Firebird”, metallic, “Big Bang”, cream “Disobedient”, cream “EZ”, matte “714″, sheer “Vanished”, matte “1993″, sheer “Ex-Girlfriend”, metalic “Amulet”, metallic “Conspiracy”, matte “Blackmail”)
Thoughts: This is a lip palette with a sampling of different shades from UD’s Vice bullet lipstick line. They’re hit and miss--”Sheer Shame” opened me up to sheer lipsticks as it’s a lovely berry color that’s really natural looking. “Firebird” is gorgeous, “Big Bang” isn’t as opaque as I’d like but is a good topper, “Disobedient” is pretty but nothing superb, “Amulet” is okay, I have “Conspiracy” already, “1993″ is a good nude, “Vanished” is NOTHING, “Ex-Girlfriend” is fine but not great, and “Blackmail” is a cool shade but applies patchy. On sale, I’d say this palette is worth it. I don’t mind that I used Ulta points for it, but it’s not my favorite.
Anastasia Beverly Hills Lip Palette Volume 1
Thoughts: THIS is my favorite. One of my best makeup purchases ever. It’s 18 shades of matte lipsticks, with 13 pre-mixed shades and 5 primary colors (white, black, yellow, blue, and red) that you can mix with the above pre-mixed shades or each other to make your own lipstick. The pre-mixed shades are largely good already, including some orangey shades, some brick red types, some brown and pinky nudes, some pinks and berries and a purple... They apply very well, and it comes with a mixing plate and brush/spatula. Love love love. Most last throughout the day on me with minimal retouching unless I eat oily food.
1 Stila Glitterati Lip Top Coat (mini, “Trancend”)
Thoughts: Pretty enough, but it doesn’t show up as an intense sparkle on the lips.
1 Urban Decay Vice Special Effects Lip Top Coat (”Fever”)
Thoughts: Super cool product, much more effective than the above top coat. Completely changes the look of your lipstick, makes it very shimmery and metallic. Pretty long-wearing for what it is. This shade is sort of... red and green glitter, with some pink tones.
1 Anastasia Beverly Hills Lip Gloss (mini, “Butterscotch”)
Thoughts: Free gift from Ulta, love it. A very neutral, nude cream lip gloss that is really comfy and gives more covering than any other lip gloss I’ve ever used. Wanna try out other ABH lip glosses for sure. Looks great on top of neutral lipsticks.
1 Cover Girl Queen Collection Lip Gloss (”Caribbean Coral”)
Thoughts: A nice drugstore lip gloss, much thinner and more translucent than the one mentioned above. But it’ll be good for summer, and is a nice orangey coral shade.
Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palette
Thoughts: This is better than most of the products Too Faced seems to be releasing now, and it’s a good workhorse palette. It would be very useful if I was working in an office setting and needed to tone down my looks, so I keep it around. It’s very neutral, not super inspiring. Most of the shades work well, but a couple (especially the glittery purple) are not awesome. Overall, good but I wouldn’t rave about it.
Lorac Mega Pro 3
Thoughts: Tons of neutrals again, but the formula beats Too Faced, especially as far as the mattes are concerned. There are tons of options, with a few cool toned shades thrown in to upset the sea of warm toned shades. This was limited edition and is gone, but based off this I’d recommend the Pro Palettes.
Urban Decay Electric Palette
Thoughts: If you want brights, try to find this. The colors are incredibly vibrant, save for one silvery glitter shade that is best used patted on top of the other colors to add glitter, as they are largely matte or metallic. I really appreciate how matte many of the shades are, by the way, as bright mattes are hard to find. Very blendable and nice, highly recommend.
Urban Decay Moondust Palette
Thoughts: Essentially, these shades are pressed glitters, but they look more like foils on the eyes sometimes--which I like. The orange-red glitter shade, “Element”, is fantastic, as is the blue-green-black “Galaxy”. They’re best patted onto the eye with your finger, used with mattes, and put over a glitter glue. I find that as long as a glitter glue is used, they’re long-lasting. I’m wearing “Element” right now and have been for 8+ hours and it looks good.
Coloured Raine Queen of Hearts Palette
Thoughts: Another limited edition palette, but if Coloured Raine’s singles and future palettes are like this, I wholeheartedly recommend them. (And it’s an indie black-owned brand, so keep that in mind.) The mattes are very blendable and lovely and warm-toned, the shimmers are largely foiled and AWESOME. This brand pulls off the hard-to-get foiled purple with “Queen Mother”, and the foiled red “Noblewoman” is amazing. (I like purples, oranges, reds, and pinks when it comes to my eyeshadows, so of course I love this.) Amazing, hope the brand drops another great palette soon.
Anatasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance Palette
Thoughts: Everything that you’ve heard is true, this palette is unbeatable, it’s everything I’ve ever wanted out of a warm-toned palette. The shimmers are incredibly soft, the mattes blend amazingly (these are hands down my favorite matte shadows) and everything is incredibly cohesive. ABH is my favorite brand because of this and the lip palette. (The glow kits are good too.) LOVE.

Textile Print – Hand and Digital: A Summary:
I also used the setting of the book as inspiration for print, in a similar way as I had done for colour. I researched wildflowers, notorious for growing on the moorland. I then sketched motifs of both flower heads, leaves and berries. As I did this I researched the properties, uses and effects of the flowers I had chosen and matched their characteristics to characters’ in the book. This gave each flower meaning, it represented not only the flowering moorland but also, a character. I found this gave the motifs much more purpose and power.
I then decided to learn more about textile printing in the 18th century, to give a historic element to my prints and set the in the context of the book (narrative starts in the 1770’s). During this research I came across a book ‘The Victoria and Albert Museum's Textile Collection: Design for Printed Textiles in England from 1750 to 1850’ which was the perfect time period in relation to Wuthering Heights. When studying this book I found prints by the designer William Killburn which I adored; the use of detail, very delicate lines/branches and skeleton-like empty leaves and beautiful, 3 dimensional floral motifs was something I admired.
I also researched the historical context of print process, manufacture and sales at the time. Printed cottons (like William Kilburn’s) began to be produced in the mills and factories of European countries between 1790, after Europeans where inspired by the beautiful colourful block prints of Indian textiles which were being imported and sold all over the world.
The information I found useful in relation to my own prints was; British/European flowers were popular motifs for these new prints, most prints had white back grounds until 1790, colours used were mostly pink, red, purple and brown and contained florals in a sprig or stripe formation. In 1785-cylinder printing was introduced making prints faster and easier to manufacture than previously, when hand etched woodblocks were used. Also many cheap imitations of Kilburn’s works were being reproduced and in 1787 the act ‘An Act for the Encouragement of the Arts of designing and printing linens, cottons, calicoes and muslins by vesting the properties of thereof in the Designers, Printers, Proprietors for a Limited Time’ was passed to control this issue. I used this inspire my own motifs.
I wanted my prints to reflect this social change; highlight and challenge it. I wanted my prints to be so detailed, tonal and beautiful that they had a hand painted quality (details could be hand pencilled/painted onto fabrics in the 18th century and designer Ralph and Russo also used hand painted flowers directly onto fabric in the SS 16 collection which fed into my inspiration). Also to look so detailed that they would be impossible to copy completely accurately. I will also use luxurious fabrics to reflect the luxury and desirability of Kilburn’s prints.
I then created water colour motifs inspired by both the style of Kilburn and Ralph and Russo. Painting them in colours from the luscious Spring/Summer palette I had already produced. Focusing on pinks, purples and browns (to reflects the colours I found were used during the time).
I scanned these into the computer along with line drawing versions of them. I studied the formation of Kilburn’s prints to focus and control my own prints, which I arranged in stripes (characteristic of the Georgian era) and clusters. In a combination of linear, and full watercolour motifs. I then added background colours inspired by the purple and browns used at the time but also using some of the colours from my Autumn/Winter palette to add a gothic grey tone and 2 almost white, blue and yellow tones reflecting the white backgrounds used until 1790.
After creating these I felt I hadn’t used the Autumn/Winter colour palette as much as I’d hoped to create a contrast between bright live florals and dying, bleak flowers. So I used the recolouring tools in Photoshop to edit my watercolour motifs changing them to tones of brown and grey. This made the impression of haunting dying flowers, which I layered behind the live ones. After accessing the prints in linear and cluster formations I was really happy with them they reflected the style of Kilburn and Ralph and Russo in a personal way and I changed the scale of these to incorporate smaller and larger motifs in the collection, however I felt there was something missing. I created a large scale, dense, all over print; as if the flowers were fighting against each other for space to grow. This was the perfect third element to my collection.
These prints were so layered, detailed and contained so many colours that the most and effective way to get the printed was to send them to a digital printer. I chose two luxury silk fabrics (all natural fibres used at the time): double georgette and heavy satin/cotton mix. These would be used for blouses and dresses mostly.
Finally, when discussing fabric choices (more detail in ‘fabric section’ of my fashion folder) I also was drawn to linen, it had been mentioned repeatedly in my research, in the movie I had watched, the garments from the V&A collections and the lining of men’s jackets and women’s corsets at the time so I also wanted to use this. There was an oatmeal colour which matched almost perfectly with a brown in my Autumn/Winter colour palette. I wanted to use this fabric for jackets and outerwear as it was symbolic of a lower class and a much sturdier, rugged material. I decided I would use hand process of silk screen printing to create single layer prints onto the natural brown ground of this linen. To incorporate a much more hands on process (more traditionally). A simpler design so as not to overpower the digital prints, but also to suggest the ability to copy this design much more easily (before the act was passed). I created these linen prints with standard binder (which had a slightly translucent quality) so that some of the natural brown colour effected the colour of the binder of top of it.
The natural motifs, dead and live flowers, and linear shadows within the broad print collection are inspired by Georgian designer William Kilburn, and represent the battle of emotions; closeness and separation between characters. The flowers, get bigger and smaller in comparison to one another, they live and dye, the move close and further apart and battle/exist against one another.
